Marcasite, pyrite, and fossils from cretaceous period. |
| Bring: |
Buckets or bags, small hand shovel and scraper, newspaper for wrapping fossils. Ther eare no nearby restaurants so bring food, and water. Wear layered clothing for unpredictable Alabama weather. |

There are approximately 20 motels and four camp grounds in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which is 52 miles northeast of Epes. Livingston, Alabama is about 8.7 miles west of Epes on US HWY 11, and has two motels. Demopolis, Alabama is 30 miles south of Epes, and has 7 motels and two cmap grounds. |

Epes is on US HWY 11 which runs parallel with Interstate 20 and 59. We will meet at or near the R&E Quickstop Country Store and service station on HWY 11 at the intersection of HWY 21, which is about 1/4 mile west of the Tombigbee River Bridge. Distance from Charlotte is about 496 miles. |
